Standby mode Problem on M1437G

Postby sammutandrew » Mon Oct 30, 2006 8:42 pm

Don't know if anyone can help with this but all of a sudden the standby mode on my laptop got disabled. I went through the options in the Power Options of the Control Panel but "standby" just doesn't exists anymore

Power scheme is obviously set to "Portable / laptop".

In the advanced option : "when i close the lid of my portable computer", the only option available is "Do Nothing"

Also if i go through Start>Turn off computer....the standby icon is disabled.

Any ideas / help please?

Did you install any new hardware?
Is there a driver problem (see device manager)?

No i didn't install anything....no new software, no new hardware! that's the weird thing about it!

now i've just finished re-installing windows....but it's still not avialable!

But...speaking of driver problems...after installing all the drivers from the drivers cd, there seems to be a problem with "Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus". I can't find a way to install it...any help?

Resetting the BIOS to defaults should have the same effect.

Install the KB888111, the modem driver and the HD Audio Codec of Realtek. Then your standby might work again.

Hi, I have an amilo 1437G and I am having a similar problem getting the modem driver to work. I have looked around and this is the closest problem with solution I have seen.

details:: amilo laptop reloaded with win XP pro
audio chipset realtek hd audio
motorola modem (shows as modem device on high definition audio bus)

please help? this is the only thing keeping me from a 100% working laptop.

You need the KB888111 for both the HD audio codec and the modem!

So install the KB888111 if not already installed and go to www.fujitsu-siemens.com and download modem drivers.

yes... I know... I followed the instructions just like you said... I even went so far as to do the installation twice... just in case I had missed anything...
even removed the kb888111 patch. then:
1. re-installed kb888111
2. tried to install modem driver. (obviously didn't work because modem driver only shows up after installation of audio driver)
3. installed realtek HD audio driver
4. modem shows up as "modem device on HD audio" in device manager
5. installation of modem fails. gives a message something to the effect of: "modem installation pre-installed" etc.. etc..
even trying to autodetect the modem (letting windows look for the drivers) finds nothing.
what am I missing?

if you are using an audio driver from realtek, try to use the FSC one.

ok, I think I used one from the disk supplied, but there are about 15 kinds of audio driver and 10 of them are for realtek. any idea of which driver I should use? (I also downloaded a fresh one from fujitsu-siemens site, but no-go) but I tried only 2 kinds of driver. I will go home tonight and install a whole lotta audio drivers till I get it I suppose... I mean, if it's a driver problem and you are sure of that, then it's all up to me installing the right driver. no problems. let's see what happens then!! any hints-tips as to what driver I should be looking for? the filenames are not very descriptive.

ah, but how stupid of me. I was installing the wrong driver!! all this time I have thought it was a motorola modem (the website and documentation say so) but the mode is actually a smartlink modem... ah well... I feel like I want to explode with joy. WOO-HOO!!
