Fujitsu Amilo 2727 Li fan stopped running

Postby mrwoggle » Mon Jun 07, 2010 10:06 pm

Hello everyone,I have a problem. My sisters' Amilo 2727 has an issue with its fan. It has stopped running. I have tried compressed air to no avail. However, I am stumped as to how to remove the fan. I have bought another, but cannot get to the fan to take it out. I have emailed Fujitsu asking for a disassembally manual, and they have "very helpfully" told me that "the laptop is out of warranty, and manuals are not released into the public sector, and therefore we cannot help you.." How very kind of them..

Does anyone have any idea how I can get this out? Or where I could find a service manual?I;ve tried their website, and just got user guide/diagnostics manuals..Any help will be massively appreciated..

Thanks everyone
Andy

As you have found out, the documentation is very poor and the FTS support isn't very helpful if you're out of warranty. I have never seen an Li 2727, therefore I can't give you any precise advices either.
But if the internal design of your notebook is close to mine, then it's pretty easy to replace the fan. Since you've already cleaned the fan I assume you know how to open the service door. Don't forget to remove power pack and main battery in advance.

Here's a photo:

You see the fan in the upper left corner. If you zoom the photo you'll see the two black screws fixing it. After releasing both and unplugging the jack on the lower right side of the fan I can just take it out. My jack sits very tight and your fan might be fixed by three screws and maybe one or two clips, but the basic workflow should be similar. The fan is not glued or soldered to any other component, so (un)mounting it is totally reversible.

Thanks for your help, but unfortunately on the Li 2727 the fan itself is under the back casing. Removing the inspection plate on the back opens up for the RAM CPU and heat sink to the fan, but the fan itself is under thick black plastic..

I am guessing i am going to have to remove the cpu heatsink..which i didnt want to do

Thanks anyhows
