Postby gijohn » Tue Jun 15, 2010 12:35 am

Hi
I am a new user and need a little help.
i have a amilo L6825 that has no optical drive. Can someone advise me what model would fit?.
i would prefer a dvd re-writer that would support dvd+ and dvd-.
many thanks.

In principle every notebook drive should fit as long as it has a PATA interface (standard - otherwise there will be a hint that it has a SATA interface) and a height of 13mm (standard - otherwise some other heigth will be stated, e.g. 10mm). DVD+/-R(W) is no problem.

Don't you have any drive at all or is yours defective? I ask this because I don't know if you need any additional parts besides the drive itself, which you could reuse from your old drive.
Here is a link to a compatible drive, but it's very expensive. Elsewhere you can also get a drive for less than 40 Euro:

I see in the picture that it seems to have a buckled bezel. A straight bezel should fit too, but it might look strange. And I don't know if you need an adapter for the port. I guess you don't, because I think there would be a hint that it is included. but I'm not sure. You could use both parts from your old drive if you have one.
