[Li 2727] Strange PoweOn Problem...

Postby shadow9063 » Sat Jul 10, 2010 8:45 am

Hello.

I have a verry strange problem with my Amilo li2727 machine.....
The problem started about 2 weeks ago. When I want to boot up my machine and I press the power btn, the indicator led-s go on, the dvd / hdd come to life.. llike in a normal boot-up process. Then it shut-s down. The whole process takes up about 2-3 sec. Then, when I press again the power butn, the li2727 boot-s up and work's normally. I have never encountered a problem such as this, I have noticed that on the first try (where it shut's down), the cooling fan is not spinning. I have checked the heat sink (it's cristal clean, no dust chocking it) and replaced the thermal paste on the cpu. The problem is still there.....

Any ideas ?
Thank you (and sorry for my english. It's not my native language).

Update: On that machine I have dual boot (windows and linux mint). I have noticed that the power on problem occures only after I have been in a linux session. After a win session the machine starts normally. Perhaps this post should be moved into a linux session... sorry about posting it here, but at the time I thought it was a general problem.
Any ideas aboout what could cause the problem ? I belive I'm not the only one usin linux on this type of machine. i have also tried Ubuntu 10.04, and the problem is still present.

Hello,

that's an interesting problem, I found a report on this in the Fujitsu forums: http://forum.ts.fujitsu.com/forum/viewt ... 89&t=34584
Maybe it depends on the kernel version used and/or the BIOS version.

Regards
Aaron

Yes... that is EXACTLY my problem too. Unfortunately, on that link I have found no answers... just other people with the same issue....
As I have said before, I have already changed the distro. The problem appeared on Ubuntu 10.04. Now I have Mint 9. Problem still there.

Thanks any way. Now I now it is not a hardware problem, and it is not only me who has it....

Can you please try to verify this with another unixoid system (OpenSolaris or BSD)? If it's really a Linux kernel issue it shouldn't occur in other systems. If it does, it's most likely related to some other program that deals with ACPI but not to the kernel itself.
