CPU upgrade L7310W question

Postby ender02 » Wed Aug 04, 2010 11:42 am

Hi all!

I just wanted to upgrade my girlfriends notebook, but didn't know wich is the best processor i can put into it.
Now, there is the basic Mobile Intel® Celeron® M 1,5Ghz in it, but the Windows Xp is quite slow, there are many breakings in the CPU working time, when nothing is moving, and it just freezes for 2-5 min. There is 512Mb of RAM, i think thats enough, but i also wanted to upgrade it to 1Gb, just together with the CPU, cause without it, nothing would change i think.
The motherboard is FSC 8650 5A, with PM880 chipset
What are the CPU-s that i can put onto this motherboard, and wich is the best? And dont count with cooling, i will solve it, i just want to make the notebook better for my bb :)

Thx in advance!

edit: i just found this wiki site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_In ... processors
all of the 400Mhz FSB Pentium M 7x5 Processors will fit my mainboard? cause then i got the solution...
if it's 479M socket then ok, but im not sure... anyone can confirm that?

The fastest CPU you can insert is the Celeron M 390 with 1.7GHz. So I guess this won't make any noticeable difference.
I think the freezes you notice have a different reason since XP works fine with a 1.5GHz CPU. Even if it is on full usage, it might become slower, but it should not freeze.

i use kaspersky but nothing else, if i start firefox everything is ok, but after some time, it just stands for a while, dont know why. i will try to format the hdd and put on new windows, perhaps it will help. have any idea for an antivir program, that doesnt require so much energy (it could help too)
and thx for info about the processor, it really doesnt make sense to buy one
