DVD problem

Postby Fijutsu_Power » Wed Aug 18, 2010 7:58 am

Hello friends!
I am new in the Forum and i am glad i discovered it.

Laptop model - Amilo pa1538
I have problem with my DVD drive /it is not discovered by the BIOS/. It was after a not so hard shaking of the laptop /by mistake/.
Now, i want to open the laptop and reach the DVD drive, so i can test if the Cable is out or something and if this can't help , i will replace the DVD with new one.

But, first i have problem with the reaching of the DVD. I open the back cover /removing all screw bolts, i can see/ but i can just remove the cover in left, where is the Video card, i can't remove the cover where is DVD, i try but i am scary to not break it, like it has a bolt, which i can't see... Is there a scheme to see all bolts for this model or someone can help?

Thanks in advance!

The Pa 1538 has a screw underneath the keyboard that fixes the DVD drive. We have a huge Pa 1538-thread in our german forum, where the removal of the DVD drive is described:

Before you do that, you need to remove the keyboard (2nd image):

Some hints:
1. To remove the keyboard, unclip the hinge cover. Then you should be able to slide the keyboard towards the display. Take care for the cable!
2. Bjoern.Busse, the user in the german forum wrote a nearly complete disassembly guide. So next he describes how to separate the upper and lower case shells from each other by unclipping them. I'm not sure but I guess if you only want to remove the DVD drive, you don't need to do that. Just remove the screw and then try to pull out the drive. It might sit a bit tight.
