I got the same problem intermitent, and when successfully open in Win7 the display exhibits same behavior as that posted on the
Re: Amilo M3438g display problem. slowly turns/fades to all white.
I activated screen saver to 5 minute idle such that the screen will trigger to refresh and get back to my screen.
I adjusted the resolution to 800 pixels, and turned down 25% brightness.
switched my battery life to balanced and maximum battery life.
my only problem now is this error dump blue screen
must be the memory. I opened the back and switched places the 2 DDR2 rams.
I vacuum cleaned the board. dismounted the fans/fins.
I find the reason of a frequent display error pop ups of shutdown and restart was the dislodged
chipset heat sink and the Nvidia chip melted dry its sticker adhesive to the heat sink.
I repositioned it back and on closing the lid/back cover with a double adhesive and a styropor pad
between the heatsink and lid to keep it in place.
I will replace it with a small video card heatsink, larger and finned so it can dissipated more heat with an increase of
surface area.
The problem seems like heat related.
they should design their next laptops with a twin fan built-in underside.
The Hard drive developed bad sector and lost the OS and i dismantled my Simpletech 160 GB USB external as HDD1
temp. while i wait for my 320GB order.
Currently the aero rating is 2.0 from 5.4
I tuned the display resolution down and the desktop details to optimize for speed.
I am running my laptop like a win98.
