XI2528 fan conection

Anyone has an idea if this way connecting a fan on a XI2528 mobo is like it should be done?

I have no knowledge about the internals of a Xi 2528, but what is on your picture surely is not the way it should be done. There should be a nice clean jack. Here you see how it looks like in my Si 1520:

It seems to me like there is a broken pin at C903 where the ground cable (black) is connected. Therefore someone decided to get the 5V (red) from somewhere else. From what I can see on the picture it looks ok. There is nothing wrong with that work. But if you bought the laptop from someone who told you it hasn't been manipulated, he's been lying.

The (original) fan has three wires; the yellow is (in this case) not connected.
Didn't find anything like a connector.

I bought this laptop for a small price while the fan didnt work....

The yellow cable is for 12V supply which is part of the Molex standard (and therefore always present) but not used in laptops. So it's correct that it isn't connected. The original connector most likely had three pins with the 12V pin being only a dummy.
If this fan is working correctly I see no reason not to use it in its current state. From an electric point of view it's ok if it's connected to 5V and ground, although the aesthetics might be questionable. But from this small detail I can't tell for sure.

Hi!

I have serious prolem with my Xi2528's fan. Its not working, he just try to spin one round, but it stops immediately. The notebook switch off bout 1-2 hours becouse of the heat. I saw your solution, to get 5V from another pins. It is working for you? THXBYE

It is working.
You will loose only speed control.
Fan will turn at only one speed. Seems to be enough to assure a good cooling.

(By the way, the yellow wire seems to be a speed feedback to the computer)
