Amilo Li1818 CPU Upgrade

Postby jefft5 » Wed Oct 13, 2010 11:12 pm

My Li1818 at the moment has a celeron 520 1.6GHz CPU, socket PPGA478. Can anyone tell me if this Motherboard supports Core Duo CPU's such as the T5300 for instance?

According to the data sheet it supports these CPUs:
Code: Select all
CPU: Intel® Core™ Duo processor
T2050 (1,6GHz, 533MHz, 2MB L2 cache)
T2250 (1.73GHz, 533MHz, 2MB L2 cache)
T2300E (1.66GHz, 667MHz, 2MB L2 cache)
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor
T5500 (1.66GHz, 667MHz, 2MB L2 cache)
T5600 (1.83GHz, 667MHz, 2MB L2 cache)
T7200 (2.0GHz, 667MHz, 4MB L2 cache)
Intel® Core™ Solo processor
T1350 (1.8GHz, 533MHz, 2MB L2 cache)
Intel Celeron M processor
M430 (1.73GHz, 533MHz, 1MB L2 cache)
M440 (1.86GHz, 533MHz, 1MB L2 cache)

The T5300 should work too, but I'm not sure if the BIOS can handle its multiplier of 13x. Maybe you can only use a multiplier of 12x which would result in a frequency of 1.60GHz instead of 1.73GHz.

Many thanks, I am running it with a T2300e at the moment with no problems but the fan controller remains in silent mode all the time. I've looked in bios but can't find any way of setting it to normal mode manually. As you can tell, I'm not very familiar with this machine yet! Is there any way of controlling the mode manually? (I have pressed the button on the keyboard but it doesn't seem to do anything!)
