Amilo D Laptop - BatteryNot Showing up in windows/ charging

Postby Sukhoi_Flagon » Thu Nov 02, 2006 6:54 pm

Hi there,
just got my amilo and it seems that it dosent seem to be, well running off battety. the indicator light indicates its charging the battery and after a while says its fully charged, but when i pull the plug out........ bang its off. also in the power options detail, it does not register that there is a battery, it simply has a grey image where the battery would be saying "Not Present". is this a hardware or software fault? and if so how do i fix it?

thanks very much,
Oliver.

EDIT- Went on the Fujitsu Website and a Driver update for my BIOS seemed to do the trick!

Hi there oliver,

i seems to have similar problem on my amilo m7400D. I also found similar solution which is updating the BIOS, and actually i already downloaded the updates from FS support.

However, the problem is i don't know how to update BIOS.

Since you have succesfully in updating yours, could you please let me know steps on updating new BIOS?

Appreciate your support, and please send PM to sinth1ng@yahoo.com

Regards
Dahlia

Hi there Dahlia,
its really been so long since i did it i forgot all about it, and this thread! ill check the laptop tonight and send you an email on how i did the update. if i remember it was VERY SIMPLE (otherwise i probably wouldnt have done it!) and i think it involved simply running an application within XP which updated the driver on restart.

Again, will check and report back on my findings,
Oliver.

Oliver

Hello - I had the same issue (battery not being recognized) on a used Amilo D1845 that I bought recently & since the BIOS ver was older than that installed, after seeing your post, I decided to go ahead & do the flash

However, after the flash even though there was a difference (the Batt charging light on the left hand side came on) windows still doesnt recognize the battery, nor is it even really cahrging; I pull out the plug & the notbook dies, pull out the battery & the light REMAINS on - its always on now...

Any thoughts? you had anything similar happen to you?

hi oliver

i have just bout a new battery for my amilo 1845. when i put the battery in it already had %30 charge on it so i took the mains adapter out to make sure it worked. when i did this the charge went down to %0 within about 2mins. now the battery just stays at %0 charge even thought the charge light is flashing and it says it is chargeing. also the charge light stops flashing after about 10mins and the battery remains at %0 charge. this sounds like the same problem you have. i have yet to find a solution to it and it is getting increasingly annoying. if anyone has any ideas of finds a solution it would be good to hear from you.

Earlier, after flashing the latest BIOS, my Amilo works much better than before but not eliminating the problem because some times it still shut down by itself when running on battery. I think (although i'm not a expert) there is some electric circuit flaws in the FS laptops..
