Hi,
I have an inexplicable problem with my Amilo 2727.
I've used this laptop for couple of years, without any problems. Today I decided to install an additional OS (openSUSE) next to the default Vista... Everything went OK, after the installation I worked both with Vista and Linux.
Having the openSUSE run I left the laptop for about an hour running (on AC, but no tasks, just the WiFi was on). After I came back the laptop was dead. The leds of power and WiFi were on, although the notebook didn't react to any of my actions. I turned it off by pressing the power button for couple of seconds. After that I turned it on again, although without any reaction (the power led turned ON, the DVD-ROM gave two sounds and then the fan turned off as the laptop). I tried to turned it on only on battery, only on AC, on both and the results were always the same. The laptop is dead. The fan turnes off after the DVD-ROM passes twice, the laptop turnes off (on battery, on AC it stays still with power LED lighting).
Is it possible that the linux didn't manage well the cooling and something has burnt? Or maybe it is a coincidence? Do you recognize the symptoms?
Thanks for any help,
Pawel
