M7400 battery won't charge

Postby ozboy » Fri Jan 07, 2011 3:58 pm

Looking for some your advice from the experts out there ....

I recently replaced my Amilo M7400 laptop battery because the old one (which was about 4 years old) wasn't charging anymore. However the new one doesn't charge either.

The laptop runs fine with the AC adaptor plugged in and the XP power meter indicates that the battery is charging but it never gets above 0%. Strangely the battery indicator (i.e. one of the 7 leds below the screen) doesn't light up to indicate that the battery is charging although XP says that it is charging. If fact, this led never lights up at all, even during boot up. I'm starting to wonder whether the charging circuit inside the laptop is faulty.

The battery contacts are OK and XP recognises the battery status (i.e. battery name, unique ID, manufacturer etc). I've tried the hardware reset and have flashed to BIOS to R01S0Z.

Any ideas what to try next? Thanks a lot for any suggestions.

I have exactly the same problem with a v2010. I took the back off, and cleaned the battery connector, and got it to charge , but it stopped at 39% and now won't charge again. Look forward to hearing any advice...please.
