Firewire dropout

Postby donone » Fri Mar 11, 2011 7:05 pm

I have a WD Book that has eSata, USB, Firewire 400 & 800
USB works, eSata doesn't despite BIOS being switched to eSata (the drive name appears but that is all) Maybe somebody can help here.

The Firewire can be in the middle of copying from a USB drive and it just disappears. If I unplug it and replug, it most often is not re-recognised. Similarly with power cycling the drive. Any thoughts please?

I realise that the socket for Firewire is remarkably small and week for heavy-ish cable but I have taped it in position to eliminate movement.
