Amilo Pro v2045 Rebooting

Postby micolahan » Tue Mar 29, 2011 10:10 am

Hi,

I have an Amilo Pro v2045 and it works fine whilst it is stationary. However, if I pick it up and I am not ultra careful with it, the laptop will do one of two things:

1 - The screen will freeze and I won't be able to move the pointer/use the keyboard
2 - The machine will reboot

I'm thinking it may be something loose within the laptop that is causing this, as it only happens when the laptop is not moved flat/carefully.

On the base when I open it up I can see the heatsink/CPU/Video/Wireless which are easy to reach. The Fan seems to be underneath the case. Is there any connection that I could check to see if it is loose? Or has anyone seen similar symtoms?

Thanks.

Hi, I may have found the cause.

The HDD seems to be loose in the bay it sits in. The manual says that the HDD caddy should be screwed in with two screws - I'm guessing to stop it coming loose, however my HDD caddy is not screwed in. ON further inspection is doesn't have any screw holes on the caddy or in the bay. My question is whether your HDD caddy's are screwed into place, or if they are loose as well?

Since the HDD is basically just 'hanging on' by it's SATA connection, this could explain why my laptop crashes when picking it up 'un-carefully' as the HDD may disconnect momentarily.

Thanks.
