Amilo 1505 -- Philips SDVD8820 does not reproduce CD/DVD

Postby Germane » Sat Nov 18, 2006 11:20 pm

Hello from Spain,
I have recently bought an Amilo 1505. When I try to reproduce a CD Audio or DVD is reproduced with bad quality and slow.
Same disks on other PC works fine.
But when I reproduce from HDD is perfect!
Driver version is 5.1.2535.0
Reproduce SW used is Mircrosoft Media Player 10, Windows XP Home SP2.
Realtek is in use.
Other program in background Viruscan, Google Search

Any help, comment, are welcome.

make sure your device is not running in PIO mode (but in DMA mode). You can check this in the device manager (entry: IDE-Channel).

Amilo 1505 -- Philips SDVD8820 does not reproduce CD/DVD

Postby Germane » Sun Nov 19, 2006 11:31 pm

First of all Thanks for your help.
I open the Device manager.
I have seen on main IDE channel and I have seen the following:
Transfer mode: "DMA if it is available"
Current transfer mode: "PIO mode".

And, even I have administrator level, I cannot change it!
I have checked on BIOS and I also cannot change.

Any idea how to do it?

right klick on the IDE channel and uninstall it. Then reboot and wait 2 minutes after windows was loaded. Then check again.

about same device

Postby bloodjack » Wed Jul 11, 2007 10:00 pm

i have an amilo pro v2055 with the same dvdrw.
my problem i kinda different: writng cds and dvds does not seem to have any problem, nore is reading cds. reading dvds is the problem. it takes about 30 min to copy a movie (700mb) from the dvd to hard drive. event viewer in windows says : the driver detected a controller error on \device\cdrom0. using help and support center to find out details says : this problem is typically caused by a failing cable that connects the drive to tha computer. i do not know what to do anymore. i had problems like this (slow copy) in the past, but after a restart i got back to normal. now, not even after reinstalling windows the problem didn't go away. can this "cable problem" be real or there may be another problem? if the device is the problem, form where can i buy a similar dvdrw (i mean a dvdrw with the same shape)?

p.s. not all the time the problem appears, but it does (80% or more of the cases)
