Hi,
I was recently forced to upgrade the OS on my Xi 2428 (it was Vista 32-bit, and no amount of repair would fix it). So I chose Windows 7 64-bit, and was surprised when the wireless didn't work: the driver installed correctly and the device manager showed it as properly installed, but no SSIDs were showing up even when placed right next to the router (I checked with my other laptop just to be on the safe side - it works).
I searched long and hard before posting here, but apparently the 2428 is obscure enough that the info isn't readily available. From what I gather it seems to be the same problem across other models: some switch for the wireless module is off by default and has to be turned on either by a physical button, some Fn combo, or software solution.
I tried every suggestion for other models I came across: I tried updating the drivers both from Fujitsu and the Intel site; I updated everything Windows Update had to offer (even though I know it doesn't do anything helpful); I upgraded the BIOS; I installed the Launch Manager for some other model (the 2727 maybe) but it didn't help; and after looking around the laptop 5 times I couldn't find a button to push that would activate the wireless.
I'm fresh out of ideas..
Anybody know something about this model ?
Thanks..
