Charger got burn

Postby mishu13 » Fri May 06, 2011 3:26 pm

Hello everybody

I've got A fujitsu siemens amilo li 2735 laptop for about a year and 2 months.

Two weeks ago the charger got burn suddenly, without any previsible sign. I took a look at the fuses but they were intact, so this wasn't from the electric network.

Now i got a brand new charger, thanks to the warranty :D but i am still wondering: why it got burn?

I am thinking that the laptop required a lot more power than the charger could provide (at that moment i was using the laptop without the battery). This new charger has 90W...does anyone know the original charger's power?

Best regards,

Mihai

Chargers are often flexible constructions that handle input Voltages from 110- 240 or there abouts. You only need to replace the extention cord, for the socket in the wall, to fit standards where ever you are in the world.

The important numbers for your computer are output; Voltage (V), ampere (A), Hertz (Hz). At least Voltage and Ampere has to be exactly the same, and of course the plug for your computer. The replacement you got are most like the correct type.

It is not unlikey that is was a fault in your charger, at least if the same thing doesn't happen again. It is a pretty rare thing for charger to burn but they go bad now and then. If it was your computer causing an overload of some kind, parts would most likely be all messed up and very noticeably.

However you are doing the right thing in being extra observant with over heating, smells of burning or any thing like that. You would not want a charger delivering more than your computer requiers.
