Can you guys help me open an unknown file? What I mean to say is, can you recommend a tool or provide step-by-step instructions? Thanks.

You mean, it's not enough to let the antivirus program search trough it? There's usually a function especially for this.

I'm not an expert at all, but you could boot up Puppy Linux. It runs as live CD, and will not change your system at all. You can access you hard drive, documents, and even go online and download the file from your mail box if needed. It is a bit cumbersome to search through the hard disk from Puppy Linux, at least the first times, but every thing can ususally be retrieved. What ever file you open in Pyppy, with any possible malware, will have no access to the hard drive in the computer.

Hi,

I am not sure whether I am understanding your question. Where did you get this file from? Does it have a file name extension?

Best,
Borkar

You may open unknown files by obtaining the right application or third-party previewing software. To be able to get the right application or software, you have to determine the file type first. If you wish to repair the file extension associations in your registry, you may download a registry cleaner.

please don't donwload a registry cleaner unless you told us details about this file!

However, since you don't answer any more, the problem seems to be solved...

Kind regards,
Borkar
