Amilo 1439G and 1280x800 under Xorg on FreeBSD 6.1

Hi everybody,

I own an Amilo 1439G and I installed FreeBSD 6.1 on it. I also installed the latest nvidia-drivers that are available from the Nvidia website (via FreeBSD ports).

The problem is that there's no way to get 1280x800 resolution working.

I tried EVERYTHING, especially workarounds cited here:

http://www.de.linwiki.org/index.php/Amilo_M1439g

But it seems that workaround for Linux does not work for BSD.

Enabling/disabling EDID, setting modelines etc etc aren't working.

If there are other Amilo 1439G BSD users out there I'd like to verify if this is a common problem. If somebody is willing to help I will post full xorg logs and Xorg config.

You also tried to just modify the line to

for every Depth (24, 32, ...) and kill the „Modelines“?

I think so, but for me it works without (Linux + ATI).

The strange thing is that EDID finds an 1280x800 resolution, but later it cannot use it.

I can't really understand what's happening, turning off EDID with option "IgnoreEDID" "True" gets me to a 1024x768@60hz resolution.

I'm a bit puzzled about this.. any other FreeBSD user with an Amilo 1439G out there ?

Did you try to ignore EDID information and insert a modeline for 1280x800 with 60 Hz?
Perhaps it is really related to the 59 Hz bug (and thus the problem "horizontal sync start (1301) not a multiple of 8" occurs).

This is REALLY strange, the ModeLine I'm using is known to be working on Debian Linux.. and also the Horiz/Vert freqs should be ok.. I'm more and more puzzled about this..

Latest NVIDIA drivers for FreeBSD solve the problem

This problem can be fixed by using the very latest NVIDIA drivers, released two weeks ago, you can download them here:
