Hi, I have a laptop Amilo Xa 2528 from Fujitsu Siemens and the sound simply wont work.
Specs
Windows Vista Home Premium x32
Realtek HD Audio
Information
-Device Manager detects both the soundcard and the modem (that share the same bus). One device shows up under Sound and audio which is the Realtek High Definition Audio Device.
-There are two devices which is marked as Unknown. That makes me worried. I wonder what that is. A laptop should not have unknown devices.
-If i plug in my headphones the Realtek Audio Manager directly responds with a pop up windows informing me that I've just plugged in my headphones. It seems therefore that the soundcard is physically intact.
-Once upon a time the original Vista installation crashed. After that the restore CDs were used and then the soundcard is simply dead.
What I've done so far
- I've searched and read through this forum and applied tips avalaible here.
- I have installed the NVidia chipset drivers, the latest Realtek drivers both from their homepage and from the Fujitsu Siemes updater program, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the device.
- I havent updated BIOS but it shouldnt be necesary because the audio device has worked properly with the current BIOS.
- I have tried this with no effect and no problems reported: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/no_sound.
The sound is simply dead. Any thoughts?
