Amilo SI 2636 dual display not functioning any longer

Postby marinuse » Mon Jun 27, 2011 10:14 am

Hi,
I was hoping to get some help from the more knowledgeable people around here.

I have a 3-year old Amilo SI 2636. Everything was working fine until I gave it to a friend to use for an emergency (I know, I know  ).
It didn't destroy the whole laptop, but for some reason the dual display function disappeared altogether from the graphic properties screen. All that was left was a single display option.
I wasn't too worried about it at the time, as I planned to switch (from XP) to Win 7 and figured a new install would fix the problem.

It hasn't however.
Everything is working properly, save for the dual display option. It still only shows one display option, and that's the laptop's own screen, no matter what I do.
In the Device Manager there's no mention of a specific graphic card. The Display Adapter shows only a Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family. The driver's up to date and working properly.
Monitor shows a Generic PnP monitor.

I searched for info on the original rescue disks that came with the laptop when I bought it, but they aren't of much help, since XP was pre-installed and I'm running Win7 x64 now.

If I connect laptop to TV with HDMI, there's no signal found on the respective HDMI channel(s) on the TV. I tried both booting up laptop before switching on TV and after switching on TV. It makes no difference.

Any help would be appreciated.
