"Blue screen" problem with WinXP pro install Pi153

Postby fakethings » Fri Dec 01, 2006 5:16 pm

Hi,

I 've got Amilo Pi1536, and i've been trying installing an English windows XP so far now.

I 've already know the problem with the SATA driver and tried out with the Intergrated SATA driver Installation method (i used WinFuture xp-Iso-Builder).

The Windows installation firstly recorgnized my HDD and do copying for a while, but then when it restarted to get to the setup sequence, a blue screen error poped up and I can't do anythings else.

And yes, I already tried both nLite and xpIsoBuilder, also tried reset BIOS/hardware, and the install seeing my HDD at first which make sure I've identify the right driver also the both file inf and sys as well as the txtsetup.oem exist!

I am still stucking with the German Window version now. I've tried Windows XP SP1 also SP2. can someone shed a light for me to go with?

Thanks for your support!

Are you sure that your RAM modules are reliable? Check them with Memtest+ first.

What is the message the blue screen gives you?
When exactly does it occur?
Did you press "F6" at any time? (Because you shouldn't!)

It's obvious then, that the integration is the problem here. I don't know which SATA controller you have. I suppose it is the intel one.
It could be my fault but I think that for text mode setup launch you need just the SYS file, and not the inf. The inf is needed far away, when you get out from the text mode. Try to integrate only the sys with XPISO Builder.

I've read this in a guide written from Borkar, if I remember correctly.

no, you definitely need both the inf and the sys file. And for integration you also need the txtsetup.oem file.

hi,

I didn't press any F6.

I tried again with another version of Win XP, this time it get to the setup screen. But after done with setups and installations and restart, the "Blue screen" show up again at the first time it actually start loading Windows.

The things strange here is the Windows XP home German version works without any problem!

Since my brother is having the notebook on his trip so I cant post the screen error message to you. But it generally say like "Window has detected some serious errors and has to be shutdown to protect your hardware. If you 've just install some new hardware please take it out and try it again later... " something like that.

Thanks for all supporting
