Replacing Keyboard Amilo A1650G (UK model)

Postby witmeister » Tue Dec 05, 2006 7:58 pm

Hi there
A friend has broken some keytops off his laptop keyboard (they are permanently damaged) although the keyboard does still work ok. Even new keytops would not fit back on the keyboard because the housing where they used to sit is all snapped off.
We are looking to fit a new keybaord, but have two questions if anyone can help.

The model is Amilo A1650G (UK specific eg "£" signs where the 3 is etc..)
Model - M52174

1) How is the keyboard removed?
I have worked on FSC laptops for years, but can't seem to free this keybaord despite removing every screw from the chassis! They are supposed to go easier with each model, but this has got me baffled. Is there a simple knack or do you have to remove the screen etc...There isn't a "K/B" type screw under the chassis
2) Where can we get spare FSC Amilo parts from? Any online retailers?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

HI,
the keyboard can only be removed by slowly and carefully prising off the black plastic cover of the speakers & hinges, with a small screwdriver,
(this item has plastic lugs, some of which can be eased from underneath
with the battery removed)
the keyboard can then be pushed up towards the screen and eased out.

This process is also required to access the memory modules, located under the top left of the keyboard.

Hi Jellybean, :D

Once the plastic over the speakers is taken off - then hey presto - easy to get off.

Without this - I would have spent for ever unscrewing stuff at the back (like all other laptops).

Thanks Again.

Now to change the memory. This part should be easy.

Memory no problem ....

Getting that !@#% keyboard back on again ....

Bend in the middle to get under the lugs - gets almost into place.

Use lever (screwdriver) to gently click this into place.

Hello,
Does anyone know where I can get a key (button) for Amilo A1650, keyboard model is K020829I1. I don't want to buy new keyboard just for 1 key.
I've tried from different model but didn't fit. :D
