Black Screen at bootup (Amilo L7300)

Postby Kieranace » Wed Dec 06, 2006 6:30 pm

My Amilo L7300 is under 1 years old.

Every now and then when its on the screen goes all fuzzy and green lines an white lines shoot down the screen.

It crashes so i have to hold the power button to restart, then it doesnt restart for about 20 times.

What could this be?

Hardware? Software?

Anyone know how to fix it?
Thanks guys

You can try the "hardware reset" described in the FAQ. But I doubt it will improve anything, I suspect hardware failure. You should have warranty.

Ive done hardware reset - didnt work.

Reformatted an reninstalled XP - didnt work
Each time, Currys tell me it is software problem and not hardware.

Can someone help me by giving me something I can do to prove it to them?

If you tried to reinstall Windows as well as other graphics drivers, then I'm almost sure it's a hardware problem. But I don't know how to really "prove" it - that would be expensive...
First let memtest86 run for some hours (> 5), maybe there's the problem.

I got a send error report to microsoft and then it led me to the site.

It had a RAM test to save to a CD and boot from.

But the laptop wouldnt turn on... (BLACK SCREEN)

I took it to currys tonight, the manager wasnt there, got to return tomorrow.

It will be the 5th time now, and he will probably say its a software/virus error. Buts its obviously not is it!

I need a way of sticking it in his face.
