Problem with wireless in Opensuse 10.0 on Si1520 /Newbie

Postby badstars » Fri Dec 08, 2006 11:53 pm

Hello, I can't get the wireless on my Si1520 under Opensuse Linux. Don't have to much experience with Linux so if anyone knows of a well-developed guide to get it to work I'd be happy if you could point me to it. Or, if someone felt like it, write a guide just for me :)

From what I've understood I need to use drivers etc from this site: http://ipw3945.sourceforge.net/ but I can't workout how to install the stuff and it also seems I have to compile some things. Is that correct?

Installation manual:
http://ipw3945.sourceforge.net/INSTALL
You may need to install packages like "gcc" and "make" in SUSE, they are needed.

I found an interesting link:

You should try OpenSUSE 10.2, I think chances are good that you won't have to do compiling etc. yourself, because it is very up-to-date.

I have a Si 1520 running under OpenSuSe 10.2 and WLAN works perfectly fine without any compiling so you should really consider trying it.
