Upgrading Amilo 1848 to 2Gb RAM

Postby vermin » Wed Dec 13, 2006 7:36 pm

Hello everybody!

I'd like to know how to upgrade my Amilo 1848 to 2Gb. In the user's guide it is only explained how to extract and replace one of the memory modules, but what about the other one? Is it under the keyboard, the hard disk...?

Thanks a lot!

Under the keyboard....

(Hope this is still interesting to you)

Hi, I was in a similar situation with my Amilo Pa1510 which came with 1GB and was on sale. I bought two sticks of 1GB to upgrade it to the maximum of 2GB (and with faster speed).

To my surprise I found only one slot. From the construction of the logic board, I inferred that the other RAM slot should be at the other side of the logic board... which would be exactly behind the keyboard.

I left the backside open (the K/B screw is longer and might fasten the keyboard) and clicked with a small screwdriver in the four "slits" on top of the keyboard. This made the keyboard loose and I could flip it over revealing a metal surface. You'll notice a metal lid with a screw: unscrew the screw and remove the lid: there is the second RAM module.

Replace.... reassemble... enjoy your 2GB

Greetings

But look between the chassis and the top row of the keys (function keys). You should see (with a bit luck) slits about 0.4mm wide on four different places.

(This was on an Amilo 1510Pa)
