Inserting a cardbus causes crash (D 1845)

Postby Moron » Sat Jan 13, 2007 12:31 am

Sorry if this has been posted somewhere else, but I spent a while searching with no luck.

Every time I insert my Belkin wireless PCMCIA card in my Amilo D 1845, my system completely crashes - the mouse doesn't move, and all I can do is switch my system off.
I recently upgraded my RAM from 512MB to 1GB, but everything had been working fine with that until recently.

I have tryed doing a BIOS/hardware reset, installing my old memory modules, upgrading drivers, reinstalling windows and I can't think of anything else to do but ask here. Will I have to reformat my hard-drive or is there anything else that can be done?

I hope someone can help! Thanks!

edit: I forgot to say I had tryed the PCMCIA card in another laptop and it is fully working. Also, if the card is inserted when booting up, the system hangs on the Windows loading screen.

Does the system freeze also without drivers (for wireless card or even PCMCIA itself)?

Thanks for the reply.

No, if I disable or uninstall the PCMCIA port drivers and insert the card, my system does not crash, but obviosuly nothing happens at all.
However if I uninstall the drivers for the wireless card but not the PCMCIA port, the system does crash.

Thanks again for helping.

I suppose there is no newer PCMCIA driver?
