Amibios8

Postby GMV » Mon Jan 15, 2007 9:43 am

I have an Amilo a1645 with a AMD Sempron +3100, chipset Sis M760, AMI Bios and mainboard Uniwill d225k8/d259k8. I've done recently a bios update that didn't work like in books and everything has gone...I just wanna know if anybody did a bios recovery using Amibios8 procedure (and how) as I tried and didn't get any result. As well, will be useful if somebody can help me with a copy of my mainboard because the site of producer (uniwill) doesn't show anything about...looks a very bad choice for FSC, and not only-I got bunch of trouble and didn't fixed with my SDVD8431 which we know that it's a Philips CD/DVD...apart from them-it doesn't appear in their list of products!!!
Anyway, I still think that it might be a hidden jumper somewhere on the motherboard that will allow me to access the boot recovey block of my AMI chip! Any ideea, any help...! Thanks!

*a liitle bit dissapoint about how FSC managed to get all that stuff (mainboard and optical units) from companies that doesn't offer any support!

That's normal. These companies build barebones, nothing more.

I was expecting more from somebody calling himself "site administrator". It looks like you have a kind a satisfaction when bad flash happens to someone! (see the link where you sent me!).

*I'll wait for more valuable information from other guys!

I think I'm not to blame that there is no backup chip
Sorry if something sounds like I'd enjoy this, english is not my native language (please let me know the sentence that made it look like that).

I wrote that there is the option to replace the BIOS chip itself (it is the cheapest solution I can think of).

Sorry, I was annoyed, still I am, with my laptop but looks that you sent me to a link which seems to be a "cemetery" for FSC notebooks. You really think or maybe it's true (I expect from them to not have any solution for "ghost" motherboard!) that there is no alternative but changing the bios chip ?

*by the way, I forgot to tell everybody but my bios failure came after flashing with version 1.05c from FSC site!

Yes, change or reflash the BIOS chip. I never heard of another option in 2 years of the German forum.

Yes, that can happen, even when flashing from a cd. Flashing in Windows is the most risky way, because of virus scanners and other programs.
Warranty: It is recommended to call the support hotline (note the name and time) and let them advise you to update the BIOS, so if it doesn't work it's not your fault.
