WLAN Quick Launch Key/Buttons

Postby Ahmed » Sat Jan 20, 2007 6:31 am

I formatted the hard drive and reloaded Windows XP (Home)SP2, on my Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo 1310G notebook computer.
I reinstalled ALL the necessary drivers for my notebook as supplied by Fujutsu-Siemens. I installed the POWER MANAGER driver also.

I am now experiencing a problem with the computer. When I press the WLAN Quick Launch button/key (which is located on the top
of the keyboard) it does not open the screen "Choose a wireless network" (see attached file No.1).

Prior to my reloading of Windows XP Home on my notebook, when I pressed the WLAN Quick Launch button, the "Choose a wireless network" screen used to open.

I am led to believe that the launching of the "Choose a wireless network" is a Windows application launching, and that the there is no programming software for the WLAN Quick Launch button, and that it is a Windows setting on activation of Wireless launch, Windows Zero Administration Utility.

Is this true and can you please help me with a solution ?

I use the drivers from Ralink and not from FS, the signal gain e better and the program who comes with it is better that configuration Zero :

You can download here :

http://www.ralinktech.com/ralink/Home/S ... ndows.html

You shouldn't have any problem after that.

WLAN Quick Launch Key/Buttons

Thanks for your reply.

On your notebook after you installed the driver from RALINK website, when you press the WLAN Quick Launch button, does the "Choose a wireless network" screen open automatically ?
The screen I refer to is the screen on the attached file (ie. see file No.1).

And do I have to install the ATHEROS driver also or just the one from the RALINK website ?

Many thanks

What's your maker of the Wlan ?

If is Ralink go to the website if is another then try to use the drivers from the site of the maker.

With my ralink it doesn't open the screen you said because the drivers have a program for that witch is better than the program from windows.

Be good

Dear Ahmed,
I've been killing myself for allmost two days trying to achieve exactly what you described, and FINALLY I've found out that I had to install Power Manager 1.10.2, which is responsible for activation of WLAN adapter via quicklaunch button (file 1004625_fsc_1_10_2.exe on FSC drivers disc, under \driver\utilities). Now it works normal. Hope this helps. Greetings from Serbia.
