Amilo Pro V2010 no display  Topic is solved

Postby gnome » Tue Jan 30, 2007 1:07 pm

My amilo pro V2010 display is only showing a very dim image, the backlight is not operating. I have removed the screen bezel and flicked the micro switch on the right of the laptop. This did allow the backlight to operate for a few hours. After the laptop lid was closed (after replacing the bezel ! ) I have been unable to get the backlight to operate again. Windows loads as normal and with a little care the cursor can be seen and the operator name clicked onto to allow windows to load fully, which it does. However I cannot get an external monitor to work either, during the load up sequence just the portion where the windows logo shows appears. I am not sure if this is a hardware problem or whether I have a software glitch which is not allowing the display to work properly. Any help will be much appreciated.

Update, I have now managed to get the laptop to boot in safe mode only onto an external monitor. The laptop screen shows a very faint image. By flicking the microswitch underneath the screen allows the backlight to flicker on for an instant but the laptop screen is no longer useable. Is it feasible to turn off the power saving system and so bypass the micro switch. Would this allow the backlight and laptop screen to operate on boot up?

external screen now working

Postby gnome » Wed Mar 07, 2007 4:27 pm

I finally managed to get an external screen working. I have the "rescue" disk, during the XP load I discovered that a cut down version had been loaded with minimum drivers. So I can now use an external monitor. The fault is almost certainly the micro switch. Any one have any idea where I can obtain a replacement?

Replacement: ask FSC where to get spare parts. But I'm not sure it is that easy to replace the switch or that it even is the cause of your problem.
Unfortunately I don't know of any way to get the lid state in Windows, so you could be sure that it is the switch.
There is an option to activate standby when lid is closed (energy options), but I don't know how this option behaves if Windows sees the lid always as closed (even at startup).

It was the screen inverter at fault, replaced and now working fine.

I managed to find one on e-bay, however I also managed to get a spare, since then I have sold the Amilo Pro V2010, so the inverter is for sale if you are interested.
