Hello, i have a problem that is surely common, cause there is a sticky massage that explains how to solve it.
my cpu should run at 1796Mhz but it actually runs at 798Mhz.
CpuInfo says that the multiplier is set to 4x while the maximum is 9x.
I tried all the solution proposed but i cannot get along with it yet.
this is what i did:
(computer is a notebook amilo A1645 with Mobile AMD Sempron 3100+(LV))
* Windows displays a wrong freq. (often on Athlon64 or Turion64).
Answer: Use special tools for checking, e.g. CPU-Z (core speed)
i tried several programs but everyone of them gives the same result.
moreover i wrote a little program in order to check out the time
necessary to accomplish some operation (i just print 10000 times
a string). well it gives a better result (1.4 instead of 5.0) on another computer
with Athlon 1333Mhz cpu.
* AMD-processors:
Download processor drivers (Athlon 64, Turion 64, Mobile Sempron)
i reinstalled drivers from the cd i got when i bought my laptop
actually, it's weird because when i tried for a second time the driver istallation wizard in the cd says that
the only drivers it lacks is the cpu's one, despite i had just installed it!
* The notebook use rechargeable battery
You should change the "power options properties->power scheme" to e.g. "Home/Office Desk"
Power is set to maximum, but the only configuration that i could find is energy saving from control panel.
* Load BIOS defaults
Eventually you have to load the "Optimized defaults" in the BIOS, so that the automatically changing of core-speed works.
* There is a option in the BIOS, which prevent clocking up.
done, nothing changes. Moreover BIOS doesn't allow to change FSB frequency or clock frequancy at all.
i don't know what to do now, any suggestion?
thanks
