ND-6500A, Power Calibration error

Postby Kaa » Tue Feb 06, 2007 1:24 am

Hi.

I tried to burn a Dual-Layer DVD first time and just after the beginning, the burning stopped and I got that error.

The burner info is:
- NEC ND-6500A
- FW 2.58

The DVD media used was FujiFilm DVD+R DL.

My guessing is that a FW upgrade might fix the problem, so I have tried to find one on Fujitsu-Siemens site, but no luck. In other post I found the xray´s links to FW upgrades, and it seems that in Michel De Boer´s site (http://www.micheldeboer.nl/firmware/6500.html) there are many of them. And that´s is the problem, there too many, and I do not know the difference between them, nor if it is advisable to use the modified rather than the original FW, etc.

Can anybody tell me if upgrading the FW is going to fix this problem?. After that, if someone could explain the what the difference is among all these FW or refer me to one post where this is explained, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think a firmware upgrade will change the error.
Did you try other blank cds (other brands)?

It's also possible that the laser lens is dirty...

Well, the burner works fine with any other kind of DVD, so I do not think the lens is dirty.

I have not tried others brands yet. Mainly because I have several Fuji I wanted to used first, but maybe it is the only solution.

I thought a firmware upgrade could increase the number of brands the burner can work with. This is usually the case, isn't it?.

Thanks.
