Service Manual for Amilo D 1845?

Postby Fezar » Sat Feb 24, 2007 7:59 pm

Hi

Does anyone know of a service manual for an amilo D 1845?

Does anyone know of the motherboard? I think its a N258SA0 but I'm not sure!

I've just fried the bios chip with a bad flash and want to find out about the chip --hopefully its in socket so it can be replaced fixed without getting a new mobo-- :(

Emailed uniwill twice and had no reply :?:

Anyone... Desperate :? :( :? :( :? :(

FIXED

Problem resolved!

Thanks to NickS and wimsbios I've identified by bios chip as being a PLCC in socket, so I removed it and replaced it with one ordered from badflash.com programmed with the correct firmware, cleared CMOS by removing battery and shorting terminals and its back to normal!
Thanks everyone!

Looks like no more D1845 problems - stolen Sunday night in a burglary along with the Lifebook S6120 and the Ford Focus....

OT: Replacing a stolen D1845

Postby NickS » Wed Apr 18, 2007 10:34 am

Home insurance cover is new for old, so a replacement for the D1845 shouldn't be an issue as long as the lease agreement doesn't get in the way. I'm currently usiing an E series Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook for work until they build a replacement (probably Lifebook S6120 again). Replacement home locks are covered, my own car's locks not covered :( (they took a keyring with house and both cars' keys on), a couple of broken mobiles they took probably also covered :)

NicePC don't do anything quite like the D1845 (P4 3.33 GHz Mobile Radeon 9700) so I may have to choose between:
Amilo Pi 1536 - Core 2 Duo T5500 (1.66GHz) ATI X1400
and
Amilo Xa 1526 - AMD X2 TL56 (1.8GHz) Nvidia 7600
or maybe, since the D1845 was a "performance" machine at the time,
Amilo Xi 1554 Core 2 Duo T7200 (2GHz) ATI X1900 - I can hope. I'm not sure my wife wants to drag around a 17" screen, though, and we had enough trouble finding a reasonably-priced case for the 15.4". If she complains I'll keep that and get her a cheap 12" screen machine!

Then there's the issue about what bits of software and hardware won't work with Vista Home Premium....

One good thing is that although they also took the Toshiba Satellite Pro 4200 (without PSU and battery), they abandoned it down the road with some documents that helped the finder identify where it came from, probably when they found the bag was a bit heavy because the Lifebook was in it. Latest family snaps were on that as we took it to France last week.
