Pa1538 : touchpad problem

Postby thomas_france » Tue Mar 20, 2007 8:04 am

Hello,
I asked this to FSC 2 weeks ago (no reply in spite of a reminder) and also to amilo-forum.de (in english).
So, I'm trying here ;-)
Here is the problem : on a brand new Pa1538 with the original pre-installed OS and drivers, no sw added : the touchpad does not work correctly, the mouse pointer sometimes jumps from 1 side of the screen to the other. Sometimes it moves "smoothly" as it is supposed to do, then does not move at all for 1 sec. In short, the movement is not as accurate as it should be. It happens quite often. Also, reaction to double-clicks on the touchpad (not on the buttons) is not consistent (needs sometimes to be repeated).
Problem is -almost- fixed using an USB mouse (the crazy movements of the pointer sometimes occurs, but this is very rare).
I've upgraded to Bios 1.1F.
My touchpad driver is from AVC.
I've seen some threads on the german forum about "maussproblem" but I cannot read german (and online translation tools give too funny results ;-)

Any idea ?
Thanks
Thomas.

PS : before someone ask me why I did not return this computer as this is some kind of DoA issue : just because I need it and cannot wait weeks to get a new one. I also believe this is a sw issue.

Afaik there is no solution yet. It seems to depend on wlan active/inactive?

Regards
Aaron

PS:
I read that it doesn't happen with Vista, but there are other problems...

Hi Aaron,
Thanks a lot for your answer.
I should receive Vista "soon" (Moduslink), I'll see.

Note that the problem also exists under Linux (Knoppix). So ... I'm puzzled.
Either I'm wrong and this is an hardware issue. Or this is a BIOS issue.
In the other hand, why also problems with an USB mouse (really really less problems, that's true) ?
I'll see with Vista and keep pressure on this very customer oriented FSC (France) support guys
Thanks again
Tom

I confirm, that it's the same problem with Vista, but I didn't really try to resolve it (if it's possible).... :?
