Horizontal small lines in vga, normal reso. mode blinks fast

Hello

A have a problem with screen or video card

I work with Amilo M3438 (17', nvidia 6800 256RAM). After 16 months of using, during work computer restarts... Just after in normal resolution 1440/1900 there are thousands of horizontal short lines on the screen, if I want to go to Start Menu or do anything else screen goes black for 1-2s each time. In safe mode VGA it can be operated but the lines stay on the screen.

i have formated one of the two hard discs (the one with Windows) and I have reinstraled the system with drivers...

The problem however stays...

Have any one of you touched the problem before?
Before giving it for expensive reparation maybe it should be opend and just clined from dust or checked for eventual internal pieces deconections?

Thank you for any suggestions

I suspect a hardware failure (gpu or graphics ram).
Do you have an external monitor?

Hi I was pressed by time so I gave it to non authorized service...

I have paid ~130 euro. Chief hes changed ram on my video card only. And now there is no problem.
However he seemed suprised himself of his work becouse he managed to repair it in one day, and he said if sth will go wrong now he will exchage the video card completly for another 50 euro

bye
