Amilo D 6800 disassembly to replace Hard Drive

Postby mcohler » Tue Apr 03, 2007 10:09 pm

I have an Amilo D 6800 which is about 4 years old and I would like to replace the hard drive.

I have searched everywhere for a service manual but cannot find one. Can anyone point me to a source for a service manual so that I can take out the original HD and replace it with a new one? Alternatively if anyone can tell me what needs to be done (step by step) in order to remove the hard drive and replace it I would be extremely grateful.

Thanks hopefully

Mike

How to remove the hard drive

Postby smon » Sat Apr 07, 2007 5:32 pm

Very easy.

turn the computer over and remove the DVD drive - Slide and hold the little button with the padlock symbol at the rear of the DVD drive and pull the dvd drive forward. It should just slide out.

On the laptop underneath the DVD drive there is a metal plate with 4 black and 4 silver coloured screws.
Remove the 4 black screws and slide the metal plate (which is attached by the 4 silver screws to the hard drive) out in the same direction as the DVD drive was removed.

You can now unscrew the 4 silver screws and remove the metal plate. This should be attached to your new hard drive and re inserted by folowing the reverse of the same steps for removal.
