I have bought a second hand AMILO 1437GQ laptop. It has installed the WinXP Home, so I decided to make a clean installation and make a setup of the WinXP Professional.
But I whenever attempt an XP installation (booting directly from my CD), it
it launches all necessary drivers and files, but never gets past
"Setup is starting Windows". After I google search I found some proposed solutions (ACPI, USB disable, F5 for standard PC) and with some changes to BIOS (ACPI configuration) I manage to get the next screen (Welcome to Setup).
But for my bad luck when I press ENTER (to set up Windows XP now), I get the below error message
“Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer”
My first concern is to find out if there is any hardware problem with the hard disk of my laptop. Is there any tool to make a full check of this?
After, if all is all right I must find a way to overcome this problem in order to install the WinXP Pro. Maybe, a another solution (?) could be an upgrade to BIOS. My current version is 1.10C. Is anyone proposed something like that or is it too risky?
