Black screen on my 1705

Postby tommo2000 » Wed Apr 11, 2007 11:10 pm

I have a six week old Amilo 1705. When it runs off the battery the screen goes to around 10% of the brightness. This has been a problem since day one and Siemens have told me to re flash the bios (it did'nt work). Now though as from today, even with the power connected the screen is at 10% of the brightness making it almost impossible to make out. Its not the brightness controls. Does anyone have any ideas?

Sorry not sure what you mean, everything seems to be working such as the sound and the laptop with the exception of the screen brightness.

The backlight is responsible for the brightness. If it doesn't work, then you can't see much (very dim, a lot less bright than the lowest usual setting).

The backlight is within the screen. It's a small tube at the bottom of the screen.

Here is a quick tutorial: http://www.screentekinc.com/resource-ce ... ghts.shtml
