Hope someone can help. I've been using Vista Ultimate for some time and everything has been fine, but now my DVD drive has stopped working. Device Manager tells me that Windows cannot find the driver for the device.
I've tried Update Driver Software in Device Manager and selecting 'Browse my computer for driver software' and then clicking 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'. Then I click CD-ROM Drive and it tells me that Windows could not load the driver as it may be corrupt or missing (code 39). I also tried 'Search automatically for driver software' and Windows said I had the most up to date software.
I tried downloading driver software and Windows said I had more up to date software already, and I tried uninstalling the drive and rebooting. Windows recognised the drive and said it was installing the software but then it says failed to install and to consult the manufacturer. the FJ site says no driver is necessary as Windows can do it, and doesn't offer a driver download.
The drive is seen in the BIOS, though.
Please can someone help? It was working fine a couple of days ago, and I haven't updated the firmware or done anything beyond Windows Updates.
