First of all, hi, this is my first post here, so go easy on me!
I'll give you the history of my problem to start with. I purchased my amilo in Jan this year from staples in Canterbury, England. First impressions - very nice. After a while, I noticed that when it got a little warm, and the fan was running at a fair rate, the case would vibrate in the area of the fan/heatsink.
The second problem was that the wireless adaptor would connect with no problems on startup, but should the connection be lost, after going into standby for example, the connection hardly ever picked up again - I would always have "limited connectivity". The adaptor would never be re-allocated an ip. Re-starting the machine always cured this. Physically switching the wireless off then on did not help, nor did the "repair" function.
At first I suspected a possible router problem, but I never encountered this with my desktop pc. I subsequently tested the amilo out in a hotel, and at my workplace, with the same results - I always have to restart to get a connection. It happens with secured and unsecured connections, and I have the latest drivers from intel. The adaptor is an intel pro 3945ABG.
The third problem arose when I contacted the FSC warranty line - they had no record of my serial number ever having existed! It took about 6 weeks and 10 phone calls to get this sorted. The machine was eventually collected, and I received it back today - 7 days door to door.
They have replaced both the fan and the adaptor, but the wireless connection is still faulty! I understand that they test the adaptor using a DOS based application, so the problem could well be within windows itself. (XP media SP2 installed)
Has anybody else experienced anything like this, or recommend a course of action? It's driving me slowly mad!
