TRIVILIN'S ULTIMATE AMILO A1630 (AMD64) WINXP OPTIMIZATION

Postby trivilin85 » Mon May 01, 2006 3:16 pm

HEY AMILO A1630 PEEPS OUT THERE!!! Having been frustrated about many quirks with my own lappy, I finally set out today to do this ONCE AND FOR ALL! I've spent A LOT of time into this tutorial, so much that I didn't sleep last night nor many other previous sleepless nights.... as most of us have experienced. I hope this post will be of great benefit to everyone.

BIOS
Burn bios iso to cd using Alcohol or Nero
Don’t do anything else yet!

Uninstall the old stuff
go to add/remove programs
uninstall all the amd updates/drivers/software you can find
Use Driver Cleaner Pro, select multiple cleaning filters and add ALL ATI AND REALTEK, uninstall

Run GameXP tweak
make a backup when it asks you to
click on Windows Defaults
This will change all performance settings to the way they originally were.
Dont worry, will optimize this later.

Uninstall Video/Sound Drivers
Right click My Computer and select Manage
Go to Device Manager
Right click uninstall ALL of the following if POSSIBLE (if some don’t let you, that’s ok)
Display Adapters
Sound, Video, and Game controllers

Restart with BIOS Boot CD inside your cd drive bay
When booting and prompt is A:\ type in the following (without the quotation marks)
"F82745 258KA5.105"
Remove CD from bay
Press CTRL + ALT + DEL to restart

When Windows XP reloads
Open Task Manager and right click End Process Tree on Explorer.exe

http://download.microsoft.com/download/ ... 0Setup.exe
http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/Window ... edia9.html

Install K-Lite Codec Pack
Install all your drivers except Realtek and Video (these must be done in a separate winxp session than agp)
Restart
Install Realtek AC'97 Drivers
Double Click on ATI Catalyst compressed file and let it expand
Cancel ATI installation first time it gives you the option to cancel
Run DHModTool v3 to patch your ati drivers and hit yes run installer at the end
restart

Once winxp is reloaded
wait until it winxp is completely idle (ie System Idle Process 99)
run GameXP again
set to warp speed, wait until process is done
restart and when xp is reloaded, wait until it is completely idle
restart again, wait until it is completely idle
YOU ARE SET!

CONTINUE ONLY IF YOU USE S/PDIF OPTICAL DIGITAL OUTPUT

Open Sound Effect Manager
ONLY! if you have optical receiver, change to Output Digital Only under S/PDIF Out Tab
Under Speaker Configuration Tab, set 2 channel mode for stereo speaker output

NOTE some systems, like the YAMAHA 150, have built-in decoders to surround two channel
(ie mp3's) sound. For YAMAHA 150, this is possible when configured to Pro Logic II
(either movie or music).

Otherwise, if you want true surround sound you have to have software that transcodes
sound or that can recognize and output surround sound and once again, an optical
receiver. Believe it or not, spdif output DTS sound from dvds is possible with the
underground champion media player:

MEDIA PLAYER CLASSIC!
If you have video that has DTS, most dvds do, to enable spdif output out of mpclassic
go to View > Options > Filters. Check all entries. The go to Audio Decoders under Filters,
and select s/pdif for both settings, and hit either 24 bit or 32 bit. Click Ok. Make sure to
select DTS from your dvd's menu!

some annotations:

- flashing a BIOS from Uniwill leads to losing your warranty! See also here -> topic,14,-BIOS-update.html
- using tweak programs is on your own responsibility.
- support to FSC Amilo notebooks is only given by Fujitsu Siemens Computers ( topic,37,-Contact-address-of-FSC.html ). Any statement given by Uniwill has no validity with respect to warranty or support of FSC.
