Amilo M7440: How to reach the fan

Postby r_mirelman » Sat May 19, 2007 7:47 pm

Fan is staritng to buz. Warranty is out. I wish to clean & lubricate fan.
Can somebody tell me how to get to the fan/CPU unit?
I couldn't remove the keyboard: I found 1 screw under the frint plastic lid, but it was not enough to remove the keyboard. Where can I find a photo or drawing showing how to disassemble?
Thanks

Same Problem

Postby REEPER » Sat Aug 04, 2007 4:20 pm

I too have an amilo m7440 and my fan has ceased to work altogether, thus I would appreciate it if someone could point me towards some information regarding the disassembly of this laptop. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hiya,
The fan in my m7440g has died (again) after making that awful grating/buzzing sound as well... Saw your postings and wonder if you had any responses or success with the fan?? I'm not having much luck finding decent repair estimate prices. Am wondering if I could do it myself or if its just a matter of cleaning out some dust? Any advice?
Thank you!!!

I have just managed to disassemble my amilo m7440g :D

First, take a screwdriver or a knife and get rid of the plastic plate above the keyboard ( on which the FuSi logo stands) where the power, wifi, etc buttons are placed. this can be easyly removed by gently pushing and turning the knife at the side of the plate. after that you can see a screw at the top of the keyboard in the middle, take that out.
now turn over the notebook!
at the bottom next to the memory modules (in the line of the LEFT ALT button) there can be found a screw which holds the keyboard. after removing that you can lift up the keyboard.
that's where I am.
I think removing the metal plate under the keyboard is the next step but I will continue it tomorrow!

I take no warranty, do it on your OWN RISK blabla :)
Good luck!

VERY GOOD.
I had the problem that many may people have with AMILO M7440G.
Which is:when you try to format HD you cannot complete the installation: it turns off.
No way.
Everybody thinks it's a SATA driver problem.
But real problem is temperature.
Look at this solution: http://carneconpatatas.blogspot.com/200 ... m7440.html
They propose to complete installation in a frigorific chamber. Incredible. That WOULD BE a solution actually,
but real problem is just DUST IN THE FILTER OF THE FAN.
Solution is explained perfectly in this FORUM.
JUST CLEAN THE FAN
Thank you.
