Hi,
I've just bought an Amilo Xi 1554 notebook. It shipped with Vista Premium installed, but I'm a gamer and have heard bad things about Vista. Besides, I'm so used to XP Pro that I figured I'd downgrade anyhow.
So I've installed XP Pro by making a bootable CD by following the instructions on Driver Heaven and the installation went fine.
I've had some trouble finding drivers for XP Pro, but eventually I found and installed them all. I used MobilityDotNet to modify Catalyst 7.1 drivers to make them compatible with my X1900. The rest are vanilla drivers, either downloaded from Fujitsu-Siemens or from the part manufacturer.
Now, onto the reason why I post here:
My notebook is having lag spikes. Whenever the CPU useage rises, even to the levels of 20% of max, my system lags. I first noticed it because my music would stutter. When I move the mouse around while the CPU spikes it stutters too.
I'm thinking the harddrives are causing this problem, but I'm not sure how to solve it.
I should probably mention that if I try creating a virtual drive using Daemon Tools, the laptop locks up for about 30 seconds before returning to normal. The file I tried mounting has not been mounted.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Zarunil
