Battery problem

Postby arje468 » Wed May 10, 2006 12:09 pm

I while ago my system crashed and i had to reinstall it (windows xp
home). After doing that, my battery died. It is blocked at 74% charging
but if i remove the power supply cable, the notebook dies. My Amilo is
L 6820.
I tried to flash the Bios , i did it as read on fujitsu-siemens.co.uk
website (by removing the battery first..ect..) , but nothing new
happend. My battery is still dead. What should i do? Is there any driver for
the baterry that i miss?
If you can , please help , cause it drives me crazy this unsolving
problem.

Thanks a lot !

Hi,

Some general hints for how to treat your battery can be found here
topic,12,-Extend-the-lifetime-of-your-rechargeable-battery.html

A description to run a BIOS Update can be found here
topic,14,-BIOS-update.html

A list of common problems and solutions can be found here
topic,11,-Hardware-F-A-Q.html

Ok, about your specific problem:
I hope you have flashed the BIOS properly (see link above) and you have also loaded the setup defaults.

Out of the Hardware FAQs (see link above):
BIOS- and Hardware-Reset (The standard solution for many problems!)
- Load in BIOS the "Setup Defaults", quit with "Save&Exit"
- Switch off the notebook, remove batteries and AC adapter, press the power button for 10 seconds
Please follow these steps.

I hope your battery is not dead because you treated it badly (see link above).

Windows XP does not have special drivers for the battery. Check the installed computer type in the device manager. The notebook should be installed as ACPI-PC. (Under the point "Computer").
