Amilo D 7850 freeze

Postby red9 » Wed Jul 04, 2007 7:54 am

Hi all,
Very happy to find amilo forum.

I've got a terrible issue with my amilo D 7850. after 2-3 mn it freezes. keyboard, mouse, ... don't work anymore. All you can do is reboot. Many days after, I decided to re-install Win XP. but, It always freeze in the step of copying files to HD. So I opened it, and try to change the Hard Disk: the problem is still there. I changed the RAM: idem, it still freezes
So I tried booting with a windows live CD and sometimes it succeeded. I used then speedfan to see the temperatures of the CPU, and I found 75°
So I guess it is obviously a CPU overheating problem. Now I don't know what to do. The fan is clean. Should I put some heat paste? Or is there a problem with my motherboard?

thanks for your reply!

75° doesn't have to mean anything - some models show this "temperature" always, so it's not necessarily correct. Does the temperature change with cpu usage?

Edit:
Even with 75° it should not freeze.

I even cannot check this because after 2 mn the machine freeze. I just have time to launch speedfan after reboot and see the first results and that's it!

But I notice that the battery LED lights up before the machine freeze. It does have some meaning but what?
