ok... my old mbo got damaged.
if anyone has any of the mbo's above, I'm willing to take a chance.

thanks.

also, I'm interested in NON working motherboards out there.
as long as the mxm socket is intact.

P.S. could someone please tell me, what's the official name for the MXM socket?!

My motherboard is still working, but the mxm socket is damaged, and it doesnt display anything. I'm willing to do replace(re weld) it my self, but I dont know how the damn thing is called.

is it mobile pci express or what?!
also, who produces those? Is it nvidia, or some other company.

I've found http://www.digikey.com/ and http://www.molex.com/ but I dont know what to look for.

edit: and isnt it funny how many x43x motherboards got fried recently?!
I dont think this is just coincidence... there's some serious quality problem with this series. I've been to a few notebook forums, but this series is ridicules, especially when you consider that FSC put a 600$ price on this mbo. Even the alienware mbos are not that expensive.

I have a dead mobo, but I think it's a lot of work to tear it out the casing

Anyway, MXM mobo connectors are made by, amongst others, Foxconn. You won't get any easy, though ;)

thanks dude. :!:
you really know your stuff!

I've ripped my 4438 apart, and you are right. it's not an easy thing to do.
lots of fiddly parts, and plastic "snap-on" pieces that can easily get damaged.

I'll check out the foxconn
