Removing keyboard on amilo 1818  Topic is solved

Postby djingo » Fri Jul 20, 2007 11:42 am

This guide: topic,211,-Amilo-Pi-1505-second-memory-slot.html#813 describes how to remove the keyboard to access the second ram slot.

However the guide is not very specific on how exactly to free the keyboard from the small plastic hatches that keeps it in place. It just says that you should "release" the hatches. I have tried everything with these hatches all possible ways, but I simply cannot release the keyboard. I can push then away from the keyboard allright, but as soon as I stop pressing they just fall back into place.

Would someone be so kind as to explain more in detail how its done?

When I tried it, I pushed the plastic hatches away and at the same time applied gentle upward pressure on the keyboard by levering a small tool into the gap. As long as you maintain the upward pressure as you go around it should be enough to keep each hatch in place.
Hope that helps?

ok, thanks I think I get it. But what tool did you use to provide the upward pressure on the keyboard ? I have tried both paperclips and knives, without much luck.

I used jewellers screwdrivers. Initially for fear of damaging or scratching used a plastic coffee stirrer! It snapped eventually hence the use of the screwdrivers. Fingernails can be used once a couple of hatches have been pushed back for the upward pressure as more of the keyboard is released.
