Change the cpu on a 1667g?

Postby bono82 » Sat Aug 04, 2007 4:19 pm

Iam running a amilo 1667g with an amd64 3700+, and im getting kind of tired of the fan running like every other minute because it gets too hot. Been looking at ordering for instance a 35w turion 1.8ghz from the U.S, its virtually free ;)

But im not sure how much i will actually benefit from this change in batterylife and less fan noise.

The laptop only has 512mb ram, so i finally ordered a corsair ddr400 1gb stick this weekend to put in it.. which will hopefully reduce the hd access (also have a new HD in it, a seagate 7200rpm).

Has anyone changed their cpu in the 1667? seems abit tricky due to the heatpipes, im not even sure where the cpu is located, but i guess its 50/50 since it can either be the cpu or the gpu i unscrew the lids for..

..enough rambling :)

I see that is no replay on this issue. Its old post and it seams that nobody tried to change, is is possible, a cpu on Amilo 1667g. I am interested to if there is a way. I would even only upgrade the fan with better one, too much noise comes out from this one.
