Thanks to Amnesiac5, I didn't know this link - there's a very important sentence:
Please take extra care that the screws are replaced into the correct locations. A long screw in position C will foul and damage the mainboard.

Sorry, for the earlier terse replies, I've been very busy lately. I've just bought my son's Amilo L7300 and was less than impressed by it's speed and battery life (bitterly disappointed would be a more accurate description) so I decided to upgrade the RAM.

My web search for info turned up the preceding links and this site, knowing how frustrating finding useful info can be I thought I'd share the links with the world. :)

Anyway, I've just finished the upgrade - moving from 256MB to 2 x 512MB and I'm very pleased with the improvement in speed. If this extends the battery life too then it will have been £70 well spent. :o

The upgrade process looked quite daunting, but only took 20-odd minutes at the kitchen table with an appropriate screw driver and 6" plastic ruler. :D The screw holes were clearly marked so there was no real chance of putting the wrong screw in the wrong hole.

Now to see how long the battery lasts...
