Vista recovery partition deleted on AMILO Pi 1505  Topic is solved

Postby anversli » Mon Aug 06, 2007 2:10 pm

Hi,

I deleted Windows Vista(Dutch) from my laptop AMILO Pi 1505 (because of slow network transfer) to install Windows XP.
I formatted the whole HDD and made 2 partitions, but there was a sata driver problem so i diceded to install Vista again and guess what.
That hidden partition I deleted before is necessary to install Vista with a Recovery DVD.

Afther that i downloaded a Vista DVD image(English) from the net and installed with my OEM KEY and everything was ok, but now I get a popup with invalid serial key alert.

I realy like to installa my old Vista again with my own Recovery DVD, I'm stuck now.

Who can help me with this problem.

btw: sorry for my english :)

Thanx

Afaik you need the Vista DVD from FSC, because the key works only with some hardware check - at least that's what's said in other forums and your problem confirms that. FSC should be able to sell you one.

(Unfortunately FSC startet lately with not providing an installation DVD. I've never done it myself, but you can burn your Vista DVD yourself if the recovery partition still exists.)

Edit:
It is possible to buy a Vista DVD very cheap - Microsoft sells it as part of the Anytime Upgrade program, where you can remove the license itself from the basket. But I doubt this DVD would change anything in your case.

Yes, that's the reason I put it in brackets ;-) It was just for information.

Problem is solved.

I made an ISO file off my Recovery dvd and added a bootimage to make it bootable. Installation went fine and the hidden recovery partition was not needed.
